Will Everyone Take the Journey?

I came across this piece by John C. Maxwell ~ Not Everyone Will Take the Journey

As I was reading it I couldn’t help but think of how many times people (including myself) in the network marketing industry do not ask these questions.  They seem to assume everyone wants to go or should go with them.

Having exceptional people on the journey with you doesn’t happen by accident.  It’s true that the greater your dream is, the greater the people who will be attracted to you.  But that alone isn’t enough.  You need to make sure they’re compatible with you.

The first question to ask is, “Does this person want to go?”  That was a hard lesson for me to learn, because early on, I wanted to take everybody with me.  I just assumed that everyone wanted what I did.  But that’ s not true.

The second question you need to ask is whether that person is able to go.  There has to be a match between the journey you want to take and their gifts and talents.

The third question you should ask is, “Can this person make the trip without me?”  If so, make friends with them and try to keep in touch.  Though you may not take the journey together, you may be able to help one another down the road as colleagues.

Are You Sliding Into Stagnation?

It happens a little at a time … sometimes so slowly that it is imperceptible.

Once life was exciting and then you find yourself  floating downstream with everyone  else,  just floating along with everyone else, doing the same thing every day.

I know it’s easier  sometimes to just float like that … but you have to fight back!!!

Don’t stagnate … swim upstream when necessary!

One of the most valuable things I have learned is that there are many things I must do on purpose … I can’t wait to feel like doing them,  so I swim upstream when necessary.

Will you rise up today with wings like an eagle and walk with the vibrancy of new life?

Will you allow yourself  to be that rare individual willing to swim upstream?

What Kind Of a Crab Are You?

Allow me to illustrate this for you in respect to how the majority of people will act and behave in response to the success of others:

If you have only one crab in the basket you need a lid to keep it from crawling out,  but if you’ve got two or more, you don’t … why?

Because when there are several crabs, they will drag one another down so that none of them can get away.

So many unsuccessful people will act the same way as the crabs in a bucket.  They will attempt to do things to keep others from getting ahead by dragging them down.

If you are in that situation, would you like to get out?

Then don’t buy into their belief system … and …  get out and stay out of the basket by refusing to be a crab!

Are You Lacking Purpose?

The number of people today who lack a strong sense of purpose is astounding.

Katherine Anne Porter has observed this:  “I am appalled at the aimlessness of most people’s lives.  Fifty percent don’t pay any attention to where they are going, forty percent are undecided and will go in any direction.  Only ten percent know what they want and even all of them don’t go toward it.”

John Maxwell suggests this:  Goals give you something concrete to focus on and that has a positive impact on your actions.  Goals help us focus our attention on our purpose and make it our dominant aspiration.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said:  “The world makes way for the man who knows where he is going.”

A suggested guideline to assist you with keeping your goals on course must be:

~ Written

~ Personal

~ Specific

~ Achievable

~ Measurable

~ Time-Sensitive

Again let me ask you … Are You Lacking Purpose?

~ The Butterfly ~

A man found the cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared.

He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it
struggled to force its body through that little hole.
Then it seemed to stop making any progress.
It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily.
But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that at any
moment the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body which
would contract in time.

Neither happened!

In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around
with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was
that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly
to get through the tiny opening was God’s way of forcing fluid from the
body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for
flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives.

If God allowed us to go through our lives
without any obstacles it would cripple us.

We would not be as strong as what we could have been.
We could never fly!

I asked for Strength ………. and God gave me Difficulties to make me Strong.

I asked for Wisdom ………… and God gave me Problems to Solve.

I asked for Prosperity …….. and God gave me Brain and Brawn to work.

I asked for Courage ………… and God gave me Danger to Overcome.

I asked for Love ……………… and God gave me Troubled People to Help.

I asked for Favors ………….. and God gave me Opportunities.

I asked to Take Away My Habit ………… and God said “NO! It is not
for me to take away but for you to give up.”

I asked for Patience ………. and God said “No! Patience is a
by-product of tribulations. It isn’t granted, it is learned.”

I asked to Spare Me Pain ……. and God said “No! Suffering draws you
apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.”

I asked to Love Others as much as You love me ……… and God said,
“Ah, finally you’re getting the idea.”

I received nothing I wanted ……… I Received Everything I Needed!!!!

What Gives a Man or Woman the Right To Lead?

Written by Michael Georghiou.

It certainly isn’t gained by election or appointment. Having position, title, rank, or degrees doesn’t qualify anyone to lead other people. And the ability doesn’t come automatically from age or experience, either. No, it would be accurate to say that no one can be given the right to lead. The right to lead can only be earned. And that takes time.

The key to becoming an effective leader is not to focus on making other people follow, but on making yourself the kind of person they want to follow. You must become someone others can trust to take them where they want to go.

As you prepare yourself to become a better leader, use the following guidelines to help you grow:

1. *Let go of your ego.*

The truly great leaders are not in leadership for personal gain. They lead in order to serve other people. Perhaps that is why Lawrence D. Bell   remarked, “Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things, and I’ll  show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things.”

2. *Become a good follower first.*

Rare is the effective leader who didn’t learn to become a good follower first. That is why a leadership institution such as the United State Military Academy teaches its officers to become effective followers first -  and why West Point has produced more leaders than the Harvard Business School.

3. *Build positive relationships.*

Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. That means it is by nature relational. Today’s generation of leaders seem particularly aware of this because title and position mean so little to them. They know intuitively that people go along with people they get along with.

4. *Work with excellence.*

No one respects and follows mediocrity.

Leaders who earn the right to lead give their all to what they do. They bring into play not only their skills and talents, but also great passion and hard work. They perform on the highest level of which they are capable.

5. *Rely on discipline, not emotion.*

Leadership is often easy during the good times. It’s when everything seems to be against you – when you’re out of energy, and you don’t want to lead – that you earn your place as a leader. During every season of life,  leaders face crucial moments when they must choose between gearing up or  giving up. To make it through those times, rely on the rock of discipline, not the shifting sand of emotion.

6. *Make adding value your goal.*

When you look at the leaders whose names are revered long after they have finished leading, you find that they were men and women who helped people to live better lives and reach their potential. That is the highest calling of leadership – and its highest value.

7. *Give your power away.*

One of the ironies of leadership is that you become a better leader by sharing whatever power you have, not by saving it all for yourself. You’re meant to be a river, not a reservoir. If you use your power to empower others, your leadership will extend far beyond your grasp.

Will You Work Your Plan?

Today is April 1st … let’s not fool ourselves;
Have a plan and work your plan!

I encourage you to take charge of your life!
Don’t let life manage you; you manage it!

This is so important because I believe
we shouldn’t be vague and thoughtless,
merely getting up daily and waiting to
see what happens.

People who have this mentality rarely
ever accomplish anything; they are usually
frustrated and unfulfilled.

Be careful about making excuses,
they rob people of their destiny more
than any other thing.

A great confidence booster is to feel
that you are doing with your life what
you know you should be doing!

Will you use a 90 day plan? Will you
figure out what your income producing
activities need to be to move you forward?
Will you print it off and keep it in front of you for
the next 90 days and see what happens!

“What Does Your Day Look Like?”

You Are Amazable!

Where Are You Really Going?

We seem to envy those who have achieved what we desire.

We envy those who are in shape.

We envy those who have built strong businesses despite a faltering economy.

The key is not to envy or sulk but to study and learn what makes these people capable of achieving what we dream about.

Regardless of your past accomplishments or failures, you are fully capable of achieving your dreams.

The issue is not what you can or cannot do today but what you are capable of learning and applying in the future.

The bottom line is that you are the only person

who can cheat you out of success. And you can

only do this when you give up.

People who achieve their goals know that nothing

will be handed to them on a silver platter.

Diet products the world over promise fast results with low effort.

Anyone who has every tried a diet product for

more than a month knows that there’s a little more

to losing weight and keeping it off than that.

Some people realize this and take the

other actions needed to achieve results;

namely they exercise and watch their caloric intake -

they make a lifestyle change. The diet product

can help in achieving results but it’s not a magic solution.

Yet many people assume that when a diet product fails,

it’s the fault of the diet product. And so, like misguided children,

they move from one diet product to the next looking for a solution that doesn’t exist.

Success in network marketing is no different.

People often look to a product or “system” to

solve all of their marketing problems and deliver success.

It pains me how many times I hear people blame others,

their leads, their products, their company, their upline, for their failure.

But that’s human nature isn’t it?

We always blame ourselves last.

And that may be the real difference

between those who achieve their

dreams and goals and those who don’t.

Achievers take responsibility for their own actions.

By doing that, they know that they are the ones that need to change.

If they feel unmotivated, they don’t

blame their upline, product or service.

Instead they figure out how to get motivated.

If they have trouble getting into action,

they learn how to schedule and prioritize.

They don’t make excuses.

If they fear talking to prospects,

they learn how prospects think,

what they expect and how to build rapport.

If they have trouble with technology they

read a book or take a class to overcome it.

Taking responsibility for your own

actions leaves you in control.

It empowers you to become

the master of your own destiny.

This doesn’t mean that systems

won’t fail or that products and services will always be marketable.

Those corrections can be made at any time.

But before you look outside yourself for the problem,

always look to yourself first. What could you do differently,

what could you learn that could solve the problem. Then go out and do it.

As you make changes in your life,

realize that change can be difficult.

No matter what changes you are trying to make,

research indicates that you must maintain positive

action for at least three to six months before reaching

anything close to stability – before it becomes a part of

“the new you.” Before stability, the danger always

exists of relapsing into old behaviors.

Relapse is often looked at as failure.

But this doesn’t have to be if you look

at it as a learning experience.

The mark of an achiever is to acknowledge

that you didn’t make it, figure out what you need to do

differently and go forward from there.

It can always be the start of a brand new year.

All possibilities are open to you.

The choice between success and failure is up to you.

Where are you going?

The issue is not what you can or cannot do today

but what you are capable of learning and applying in the future.

The bottom line is that you are the only person who can cheat you out of success.

Are You Fearing Change?

Change is a subject that much is written about and it’s
always interesting and helpful to get another perspective.

You never know what piece that someone has written is going to be the one
that helps you in that season when

you are having fears of making changes.

I would like to share a piece that I came across that was written by Meg Mangan of New South Wales, Australia.

Children have fun blowing the seeds off dandelions
and watching them float away in all directions.

Sometimes the children are disappointed when the fun is over;
they want the heads back in one piece so they can experience it all again.

But no amount of glue could put a dandelion
together again in the way it was created.

This dispersal of the dandelion head occurs for a reason:
it maximizes the chances of one of the seeds finding a
suitable place to set down roots and continue the life cycle.

The simple act of letting go and allowing the forces of life
to propel it is an integral part of the life process for dandelions.

When life blows us in a new directions or propels
us into a new stage, we often become uneasy.

We may try to cling to the familiar rather than holding on
tightly to life and allowing change to carry us along new paths.

Fear of the unknown overwhelms many of us,
preventing us from enjoying life in all its abundance.
However, God calls us toward new horizons, new adventures, and new paths.

We may feel at times as if we are being blown apart, just like the dandelion head.
As your paths change, trust and seek guidance ….

Life’s winds blow us to new places and toward new growth!

Go and Grow!
